കൊച്ചി : യുദ്ധഭൂമിയായ സുഡാനില് നിന്ന് ഇന്ത്യക്കാരെ രക്ഷപെടുത്താനുള്ള ‘ ഓപ്പറേഷന് കാവേരിക്ക് ‘ നേതൃത്വം നല്കാന് വിദേശകാര്യസഹമന്ത്രി വി.മുരളീധരന് ജിദ്ദയിലേക്ക് പുറപ്പെട്ടു. പ്രധാനമന്ത്രിയുടെ നേരിട്ടുള്ള നിര്ദേശപ്രകാരമാണ് യാത്ര. ചൊവ്വ രാവിലെ വിദേശകാര്യസഹമന്ത്രി ജിദ്ദയിലെത്തും.
ആഭ്യന്തര സംഘര്ഷം കത്തിപ്പടര്ന്ന സുഡാനില് കുടുങ്ങിപ്പോയ മലയാളികള് അടക്കമുള്ള ഇന്ത്യക്കാരെ ഒഴിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ദൗത്യം തുടരുകയാണ്. ദൗത്യ ഭാഗമായി നാവികസേനയുടെ ുമേധ സുഡാന് തുറമുഖത്ത് എത്തി. 500ഓളം ഇന്ത്യക്കാരെ തുറമുഖ നഗരമായ പോര്ട്ട് സുഡാനില് എത്തിച്ചു കഴിഞ്ഞു.
വ്യോമസേനയുടെ സി 130 ജെ വിമാനം സൗദി അറേബ്യയിലെ ജിദ്ദ വിമാനത്താവളത്തില് തയ്യാറായിരിക്കുന്നതായി വിദേശകാര്യ മന്ത്രാലയം അറിയിച്ചു. ദൗത്യത്തിന്റെ ചുമതല വി. മുരളീധരനെ ഏല്പ്പിച്ചത് പ്രധാനമന്ത്രി കൊച്ചിയിലെ യുവം വേദിയില് ആണ് പ്രഖ്യാപിച്ചത്.
External Affairs V. Muraleedharan for Sudan Rescue Mission
Sri V. Muraleedharan, Minister of State for External Affairs has left for Jeddah to spearhead “Operation Kaveri” to rescue Indians from the war-torn Sudan. The trip is on the direct instructions of the Prime Minister Sri. Narendra Modi. Sri. V. Muraleedharan will reach Jeddah tomorrow (Tuesday) morning.
The mission to evacuate Indians, including Malayalis, who are stuck in Sudan, where the civil conflict has erupted, is continuing. Navy’s INS Sumedha arrived at Sudan port as part of a mission. Around 500 Indians have been brought to the port city of Port Sudan.
Indian Air Force’s C130J aircraft is ready at Jeddah Airport in Saudi Arabia, the Ministry of External Affairs said. Sri V. Muraleedharan was entrusted the charge of the mission by the Prime Minister at the Yuvam event in Kochi.
